Just getting started with gluten-free eating and feeling overwhelmed with what to eat first thing in the morning? There are so many easy gluten-free breakfast meals and I’m going to share my four favorite gluten-free (GF) ways to start my day.

  1. Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Museli with Yogurt and Chopped Apples or Pears

Museli can be served hot or cold, but I prefer eating it cold soaked in a high-protein and lower sugar yogurt and then adding some seasonal fruit, like chopped apple or pears.

  2. Avocado Toast with a Poached Egg

Avocado toast (on gluten-free bread, of course!) is simple and can really satisfy hunger, especially when topped with a boiled, poached or fried egg. Top with your favorite seasoning, I like to add Everything Bagel seasoning

  3. Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Oats with Wild Blueberries and Walnuts

Oatmeal has been a staple breakfast ever since I was a little girl. It is cost-effective, nourishing and can be prepared savory or sweet. Make this simple breakfast even more nutritious by adding some foods that have been linked with improving cognitive health like wild blueberries and walnuts and skip adding sugar.

  4. Two Hard Boiled Eggs, Orange and Gluten-Free King Arthur Flour Mini Cinnamon Donut

Need a treat some mornings? This isn’t my daily breakfast but it’s one of my favorite once-in-awhile choices. It’s always seems that when you can’t include something in your diet you crave it even more. For me, it was donuts. I barely ate donuts prior to my diagnosis with celiac disease, maybe on vacation, like once a year. Yet that limitation, for some reason, drove me crazy. That is, until I found King Arthur’s Donut Mix, I think I like these even more than the gluten-containing version. I’ll whip these up for a special treat and then put the rest in the freezer for later or share with friends and family. To ensure that I actually feel full and ready to start the day, I’ll add some extra protein (usually hard boiled eggs) and a piece of fruit.

Food preferences and lifestyle play a part in deciding how to start the day but you can’t go wrong focusing on protein and produce. I’ve included my quick-chart for creating a balanced gluten-free breakfast meal.
